Dear Lauretta,

Your Question (s): In the Bible, is there verses that say that humans here on earth are lower or higher than angels?

My Answer (s): Thank you for visiting my web site, and submitting your question. I pray that our God and Father in heaven will continue to bless you in understanding His holy Word. Your question is their Bible verses saying whether humans are lower or higher than angels are while on earth. The short answer to your question is yes there are Scripture saying God has created man in this present age on this evil and adulterous planet a little lower than the angels.

Yes, the first Scripture mentioning these words is in Psalm 8:3-8. Where the prophet David, the man whom God has testified that he’s a man after His Heart. This prophet David asks this question of God, what is man that You are mindful of him, the son of man that You care for him? Here in Psalm 8 the Holy Spirit speaks of mankind being created by God to be ruler over the works of His hands, and He has placed everything under man (humans’) feet (verses 7-8). Yet, in this present evil age we do not see the full meaning of these verses. But, there are more Holy Scripture that give us a more fully understanding of these verses. Notice the phrase "son of man" and "crowned him with glory and honor" (verses 4-5). The complete Scripture in Psalm 8 is listed below:

Now, in the book of Hebrews, the Holy Spirit answers the question the prophet David asked of God in Psalm 8 in part. Saying, we do not see everything subject to us humans in this present age, and that everything is not yet fulfilled. But we do see Christ Jesus, the "Son of Man" whom God has "crowned Him with glory and honor" having being made like His brothers and sisters, the children God gave Him (Hebrews 2:17, Matthew 9:6, 10:23, 24:30-31 and 25:31). For in Hebrews 2, the Holy Spirit plainly states that God has not subjected the world to come to angels, but to us humankind. Saying, "it is not angels that He has subjected the world to come" (Hebrews 2:5 NIV). The complete Holy Scripture is listed below:

As the above verses in Hebrews 2 explains that the Son of Man, Christ Jesus represent what we shall be like in the fulfillment of this Holy Scripture. Again, the Holy Spirit in another place has testified that when we, humans whom God has chosen as His very own are made perfect, and receive our salvation, we shall see Jesus as He is, and we shall be like Him (1 John 3:2). For "we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man", called the Son of Man, Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:49 NKJV). For the Scripture, asks "which of the angels did" God ever say: "You are My Son, today I have begotten You"? And again: I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to Me a Son?" (Hebrews 1:5-14 NKJV).

Therefore, let us conclude this matter with by showing you further Holy Scripture giving us even fuller meaning of the phrase God "made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor" (Psalm 8:5 NIV) for awhile on this evil and adulterous planet. Below, the Spirit asks the questions, "Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?" And again, "Do you not know that we shall judge angels?" Saying, it is to our shame as followers of Christ Jesus that we cannot settle matters between ourselves, but we go before unbelievers for justice. For if indeed we have the Spirit of God living in us, then we should be able to judge things pertaining to this present life.

  • 1 Corinthians 6:1-6 (NKJV)… 1 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? 2 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life? 4 If then you have judgments concerning things pertaining to this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed by the church to judge? 5 I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you, not even one, who will be able to judge between his brethren? 6 But brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers!

Finally, I pray that I have answered your question in its fullest. I pray that God my Father in heaven may bless you with understanding His holy Word. Amen. Praise God.

In Christ love,

Ron Davis
