Poor, Orphans, and Widows and the Church

What are the churches of this world doing for the poor?

What should the churches of the saints of the Living God do for the Poor?

In Matthew 25 Christ gave us the Parable of the sheep and goats. I ask you these questions which one of these Christians are you? Which one of these Christians do you want to be? What do you think Christ mean by this saying, “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me”? I mean ask yourself these questions, ponder them, examine yourselves so you are not disqualified after you have run a race by not following the rules of the race.

The Holy Spirit says, "Whom will God teach knowledge? Whom will God make to understand His message?" And again, the Spirit says, "For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people". As I said before, I say again, I speak to you plainly in the language of one untaught by the wise of this world, who speak with impressive and persuasive words. But, I speak as the Spirit of Christ in me informs me, for the Spirit searches all things. Not as a mere man, I speak as one without training in the speech of the seminaries of this world's churches , but I speak as one with the wisdom which comes from God above, for I want you to live and not die, to hear and understand as those who are babes willing to learn from one another. For God reveals His wisdom and understanding to those who are babes according to this world's standards; and "not many wise" of this present age answer the calling of God. As the Spirit says in 1 Corinthians 2:10... "But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God".

  • Isaiah 28:9-13... 9 "Whom will he teach knowledge? And whom will he make to understand the message? Those just weaned from milk? Those just drawn from the breasts? 10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little." 11 For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people, 12 To whom He said, "This is the rest with which You may cause the weary to rest," And, "This is the refreshing"; Yet they would not hear. 13 But the word of the LORD was to them, "Precept upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little," That they might go and fall backward, and be broken And snared and caught.
  •
  • Luke 10:21... In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, "I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.
  •
  • 1 Corinthians 1:26... For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.

God Himself pleads the cause of the poor and needy in Isaiah 41 - There He is calling upon us as "real Christians" to be responsible for our fellow human brothers and sisters in need:

Isaiah 41:17…"The poor and needy seek water, but there is none, their tongues fail for thirst. I, the LORD, will hear them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them."

The Kush Edifying Ministries proclaims the whole counsel of God. This ministry believes in the command of Jesus to His disciples in Matthew 10:7-8 "As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.' Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give" (NIV). Jesus commands us to "freely" preach the word without demanding that those preached to give us a tithe or tenth of their earnings.

As 1 Corinthians 9:15-18 says, so do I say, "For if I do this willingly, I have a reward...That in preaching the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ [available] without expense [by not demanding "tithes and offerings" from you, as so many gospel peddlers do], so that I may not abuse my authority in the gospel" [as those who claim they represent God in collecting tithes from you]. For if I do not receive tithes from you, should I stop preaching the gospel to you? For as the Holy Scripture says, "Woe to me, if I stop preaching the gospel... What then is my reward?"
