By Evangelist Ron Davis, Minister of Christ,
of the Kush Edifying Ministries
[Note: This speech on racism was given over 7 years ago to the Men’s ministry group of a religious organization.]
In times past early
in the ministry, I gave a similar speech to this one to the then Spokesmen
Club, called the Men Ministry group. At that time my “INTRO” included
the incident of a crazed man, where in NY he boarded a commuter train and
killed six persons and leaving 20 or more wounded.
(NOW BEFORE I GO
ANY FURTHER WITH THIS STORY - LET ME ASK YOU ONE QUESTION WHAT COLOR IS THE
SHOOTER?).
Now, if you assumed
in the beginning that this was a black man, then that’s why my speech is titled
“The effects of White Supremacy/Racism on our minds”. The shooter name
was Colon Ferguson out of Hicksville, NY; and he is a black man. He killed
these people because of his perception that this society (or world) is racist.
Now that speech dealt with the perception that produced hatred, which led to an
evil deed (the goal of our enemy-Satan) by a Black person.
However, today
since we have all this talk within our church leadership about racial
reconciliation; I thought it would be good to revisit this matter again. Yet,
this time I take this sin of racism from another angle. That is white
supremacy, which is another evil perception that has caused untold evil and
heinous deeds upon those who are deem deserving of death and this evil
treatment. For it produces the ideal in the oppressor mind, which our Lord and
Savior speaks of in John 16:2 saying, “yes,
the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God
service”. Since, the beginning of
the Romans rule we have as a Black people suffers from the results of this evil
of the evil one and his workers. Today, we as a people of God must understand
that these people still rule, for the Greeks and Romans were and is a white
people willing to commit untold evil in the name of their god who has blinded
them with his deceit. (Remember these chapters, Daniel 2; Rev.13 and 17 read
them again).
Now, I could name
thousands upon thousands of cruel and vicious evil deeds of those who believe
they of superior to others. But let me deal with the reason “why” whites
continued the physical slavery of Black people. This is the first lie
that got us where we are today - this lie told by so-called men of GOD under
the man-made religions of the universal church and her daughters. And that lie
is this, that God cursed the Blacks turning them black and making them slaves
to all non-blacks (white) by deceit they errorous
interpreted the Scripture in Genesis 9. They taught this and many other
deceptive doctrines of Satan.
FROM this lie Satan
caused whites to believe, that they were superior to Blacks and considered them
less than human. (Remember Satan used this same lie to deceive the Nazis about
the Jews and today the Neo-Nazis, the Skinheads, other branches of the white
supremacy followers and sympathizers). Satan has led them (and own evil
desires) to perpetrate some of the most heinous and evil crimes against
humankind - all the while believing they are superior to others – and believing
that God gave them this right to destroy all non-whites. They were and are
doing all this in the name of God and their religion. Even now our enemy
prepares his sons and daughters to commit mass murder against the oppressed,
the poor and the people of God. For this is prophecy in the Holy Scriptures.
Now, let us
understand that White Supremacy / Racism effects everyone mind both Black and
white but especially our white brothers and sisters - for this attitude of
superiority causes them to exalt themselves above others. Even those who claims
to be Christians, denying the words of Holy Spirit in which
says, “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in
lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself”. This sinful behavior and attitude of white superioity must be dealt with before true reconciliation
can be made.
Why is it that our
white brothers and sisters view themselves as superior to others?
First, it’s the lie
perpetrated on this world by our common enemy Satan the evil one. As I said
before in times past, I say again it all began when the universal churches
claim that blacks were cursed black and their punishment for this was placement
into slavery - and from this lie whites had an excuse for their evil deeds
casting everything black as evil -and everything white as good.
IF you look in your
dictionary black is defined as evil and dirty- and all evil or bad things are
given the adjective black - black mail- black Monday - black death -blackball
-black magic- black sheep - black market - etc. etc. etc.
AND white is
defined as good- fair- right - just- etc. etc. etc. Now if you are a child
hearing these things on a daily bases you develop a certain mind set; and that
mindset is white supremacy.
THEN those are you
who came into this church when it was teaching British Israelites - saying that
all white people represented the lost tribes and those other churches in this
world having similar doctrines. These doctrines only reinforced this society white
supremacy ideology. And some members of this church organization were cruel and
insulting to their Black brothers and sisters.
However, we if we
are truly led by the Spirit of Christ. I pray that none you are have
disqualified yourself. For we, as Christians cannot have true reconciliation
until we apply the Scripture that tells us to esteem others better than
ourselves and not to exalt ourselves beyond measure - for God resists the proud
and superior, and gives justice and refuge to the humble and lowly.
For true
reconciliation is this: let us remember God prior to calling
Cornelius into the Church; He had to deal with the effects of racism on Peter’s
mind. How when Peter prayed he saw all these unclean
and common animals and GOD, you know the story. God told Peter not to call any
of HIS children whom He had cleaned unclean or common (this is the same mind
set we have today with this White Supremacy’ mind in this country and the world
or wherever these so-called superior people are). That is looking upon others,
in case Black people as unclean and common less than the whites who are viewed
as superior, even casting themselves in images claiming themselves to be God.
(A blasphemous thing yet they justify themselves for this evil deed).
Let us, as Christians
I pray put into practice the exhortation we receive in
Philippians 2. Let us “esteem others better
than” ourselves and look out “for the interests of others”; the Holy Spirit
says to us today:
Philippians
2
Unity Through Humility
Love, Unity, and Humility Recommended
1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if
any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 fulfill
my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one
mind. 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in
lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you
look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
Brothers
and sisters - God will deal with the unbeliever and those who are deceived.
But, I am here today to exhort you the believer if indeed you have the Spirit
of our Savior in you - that in order for us to crucify our old mind we must
understand that any ideal that whites are superior to others must be put to
death by the renewing of our mind by the Spirit of God. That as the Scripture says there is nothing
good in us except the Spirit that God gave us - and when God calls us Holy He speaks of His own Spirit which He cause to dwell in
us. As in Revalation12, Christ tells us Satan has deceived the whole
world into believing that whites are superior to others and with many other
things by using lies and misleading information. These lies are carried out in
the printed materials (such as children books, school books, history books and
other printed media and all other means of communication of our day) and
picture and sound media devices. These devices are in the hands of the enemy of
GOD and the people of God, and those who are oppressed and poor in this
world.
FROM childhood
people are taught that whites did everything - that life began with the Greeks
(WHEN THE BIBLE AND OTHER VERITABLE MATERIALS TELLS US OTHERWISE) - Children
are shown all characters in the Bible as being white - including the so-called
images of the Man Jesus Christ (which is blasphemy and idolatry) - another method Satan uses to reinforce his
deception and lie of white superiority. Because white supremacy is a sin, and
it’s a sin that’s learned from childhood there are times when your mind follow this lie without you knowing you are doing it.
Therefore at every thought that enters your mind you must test it against the
sin of white supremacy - rejecting all thoughts that goes against the truth of
God that we are all equal in the One Spirit of Jesus the Christ and our Father
in heaven - and true racial reconciliation will not come about unless whites
reject this lie in their mind - and view their black brothers and sisters as equal
not only in the God’s eyes; but in their own eyes also - because we can quote Gal.
3:28 - but this is our test. Do we truly believe this truth that we are all
equal in Christ? I mean do you reject the Holy Spirit when God says choose a
black person for something, which he or she is more than qualified, but your
own mind believes whites are always better than blacks (you know that bell
curve thing)?
NOW let us recall
why God had to deal with Peter’s superior attitude towards Gentiles - because
this sin was so ingrained in Peter’s mind God had to come to Peter in a vision
so that Peter would be able to overcome this deadly sin. Peter’s attitude
towards Gentiles (those whom he deem as dogs un worthy
of God’s grace) was the same as the attitude of white supremacy today. This
same sin of supremacy arose again within Peter and even Barnabas in Galatians
2. Where we see Peter and Barnabas withdrawing from the Gentiles once James
and the other Jews showed up. They feared their fellow Jews; therefore, you as
white Christians must continue to address this attitude of white supremacy
throughout your Christian journey, throughout your wandering in this wilderness
of sin on this evil and adulterous planet. May the power of the Holy Spirit
strengthen you. Again, I say remember that Cornelius in Peter’s mind was less
than human. Why then do you think God showed Him the unclean animals? Yes,
it was because Peter’s mindset was that they, the Gentiles, the Romans and
Greeks were unclean and common not worthy of God’s calling to grace as he was.
Let examine
ourselves as Peter did on his way to Cornelius, and as the Holy Spirit exhorts
us in 2 Corinthians 13 when speaking of Christ Jesus:
2 Corinthians 13
4 For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God.
For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God
toward you. 5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test
yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? -- unless
indeed you are disqualified. 6 But I trust that you will know that we are not
disqualified.
IN CLOSING, let me
say that true reconciliation is our calling (a ministry of reconciliation) but
white supremacy is the enemy weapon- and goes against the reconciliation of God
and with man. And we as ministers of this reconciliation are called upon as it
says in 2 Corinthians 5:17-19, “Therefore, if
anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold,
all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has
reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of
reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the
world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to
us the word of reconciliation”. Therefore, let us
not continue to act like mere men and women for we have the Spirit of Christ in
us. Do not disqualify yourself for service in God’s ministry of reconciliation.
Do not let the mindset of white supremacy prevail against the new Man in you.
Do not quench the Spirit in you, for today if you will hear God’s call do not
harden your heart as the Israelites did in the wilderness of sin.
We as Spirit-led
Christians must as the humble Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. says (who laid down
his life for his friends) that even though we must face the fiery trials and
sufferings for our stand today and tomorrow.
We must live out the true meaning of this nation’s creed “we hold
these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal”, for from
the one man Adam, God created all men. AND today God
creates us as a new man through the second Adam the Man Jesus Christ who gives
us this Ministry.
